Microtex was founded in 1985 near Turin, Italy, by Leonardo Michetti and his sons.
The main activity of Microtex sas is the design and production of electro-optical sensors based on various optical technologies, such as spherical lens systems, planar optical waveguides, and optical fibers.
The primary application fields for Microtex sensors range from thread detection and measurement in the textile sector to barcode reading in small cavities and industrial safety.
Microtex’s know-how originates from early studies on long-distance data transmission and local optical communications (LAN) dating back to 1964.
Microtex’s original developments and projects span from instruments for space applications (MHOI, multidirectional fiber optic holographic interferometer, 1991) to new components for eye surgery techniques.
