ACEA is a modern Italian multi-utility company, which provides services for municipalities, private companies, and citizens. In more than 150 years (ACEA finds his origin in 1856, when the first Italian-French society for gas supplying was established), the company has continued its territorial growth and the current Group, established in 2003, operates in 47 Municipalities situated in the North West of Italy, serving roughly 150,000 inhabitants. Our main business activities are waste collection, biowaste treatment, clean water distribution and wastewater management, energy services through natural gas distribution and commercial activities connected, as well as district heating services. The anaerobic digestion of organic wastes leads to the production of biogas, which is refined to get biomethane. The solid residues coming from anaerobic digestion is digestate, which is treated into the composting plant to get compost. Since 2007, ACEA has cooperated with Universities and research centres for several research projects at a national and European level, investigating three main topics: clean energy, green chemistry and energy community development.
