Technologies
The ScrollExpander technological solution originates from the idea of converting an oil-free rotary scroll compressor into an expander.
Based on the experimentation already carried out on the laboratory prototype, this expander operates with residual pressures up to 1 bar (gauge).
Traditional bladed turbines are not suitable for applications with low residual pressure and power.

The objective of the project is to define a semi-industrialized prototype of the expander, designed and validated on the basis of numerical simulations and experimental tests. The starting point is the experimentation carried out at UNI-PG on a first demonstrative prototype during the period 2012–2015.
As one of the first companies in Italy, to develop engineering and production expertise in scroll-type compressor and expander technology. To start the production of new optimized devices aimed at energy efficiency.
Collaboration agreement with the Department of Energy (DENERG) of the Polytechnic University of Turin.
The CLEVER Cluster can share the ongoing development activity and will be able to benefit from the results of the scientific collaboration with the Polytechnic.
The fine-tuning of a scroll expander device, developed for the recovery of currently unusable waste energy, represents a concrete objective for improving the energy efficiency of plants.
The transferability and replicability in the design and production of an optimized ScrollExpander for energy recovery are the basis for disseminating the results and using the new technology.
It is also considered important to achieve a scientific publication.
