Technologies
Research and study on the conversion of existing refrigeration equipment through the replacement of current refrigerants with new alternatives, focusing in particular on the use of natural refrigerants (such as hydrocarbons and CO₂) and synthetic refrigerants with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) below 150 (e.g., HFO1234yf, HFO1234ze). The project also foresees the development of new products and individual components aimed at increasing energy efficiency, optimized for the use of these new refrigerants. Energy-saving electrical components will be integrated, such as brushless motors and fans, as well as compressor and temperature control through inverter technology. In addition, the study will address the use of innovative thermal insulation materials and the design of new high-efficiency heat exchangers.

PRISM-E LINEA A
Building on the currently available alternatives, the GREEN GAS project will explore the potential use of new natural or highly eco-friendly refrigerants — fully compliant with environmental and energy requirements set by legislation and market demand — both in existing equipment and in newly developed products specifically designed to integrate the latest technologies
Regular meetings are scheduled among the partners to review the progress of the work, exchange information from the individual research activities, and share the collected data. The project will also involve the Department of Energy (DENERG) of the Polytechnic University of Turin, which has strong expertise in the design and experimental characterization of refrigeration systems from thermo-fluid dynamic, energy, and safety perspectives, acting as technical-scientific consultant. In addition, the possibility of funding a PhD position is foreseen to support the study and development activities within the project
The CLEVER Cluster (Cleantech & Energy innoVation clustER) aims to support its members in developing their innovation pathways by providing services, technical and methodological assistance, and dedicated infrastructures
Up to 20 scientific publications are foreseen, to be presented at national and international conferences organized by associations and institutions such as Centro Studi Galileo, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), EPEE, AICARR, IIF-IIR, ASHRAE, as well as in technical-scientific journals published by these organizations.
