The project concerns the development of an innovative system to improve the efficiency of gasoline engines, called the Fast Burning System (FBS). This patented system uses a pre-chamber that helps burn very lean mixtures more effectively. The pre-chamber contains a rich mixture and the spark plug, while the main chamber uses a leaner mixture. A key element is the addition of inert gases or liquids (such as water or exhaust gas) in the pre-chamber to reduce combustion temperature and limit NOx formation. The system will be tested on a mild-hybrid vehicle.
